Iontophoresis

What is Iontophoresis?

Iontophoresis is a non-invasive and effective treatment for people with Palmar and Plantar (Hand and Foot) Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). It can also be used in Axillary (Armpit) Hyperhidrosis. 

It works by blocking the nervous system that triggers the sweat glands through a mild electric current. The effects of Iontophoresis usually noticeable from 6 weeks of treatment and maximum effect is achieved at 12 weeks. 

Risks are minimal when used as directed. It can be used in older children. 

Iontophoresis is not recommended in pregnancy, for people who have electronic implanted devices, metal implants in the current pathway or seizures/epilepsy.
